Has anyone tried this?

Outback Steakhouse Steak Seasoning

Ingredients:
1 envelope Taco Seasoning
1 envelope Good Seasons Italian dressing
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 bottle Coca Cola

Directions:
Combine taco seasoning and Italian dressing mix. Pierce steak with a fork, rub with oil, and coat with seasoning. Pour Coke around steak in deep plastic or glass container and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 24 hours. Grill; basting with marinade.

I haven't tried this but did do a ham with Coke once. It turned out much better than I expected. This sounds like a very good combination and the Coke will caramelize on the steak creating yum-yums on the outside of it!

Hooo Boy! Gonna hafta try this one sometime this weekend! Looks like a great combo - albeit a little on the weird side (taco seasoning???) but I'm not known for conventional tastes (remember, this is a gal who likes Miracle Whip and lettuce on peanut butter sandwiches - and we won't be going there, will we? )

The version I use:

4 t. salt
2 t. paprika
1 t. pepper
1 t. brown sugar
1/2 t. onion powder
1/2 t. garlic powder
Pinch ground thyme
Pinch dried basil

I tried the taco-and-Coca Cola recipe once, and we prefer this version.

Hey, IC! What liquid do you use instead of the cola thing?

No liquid...I use it as a rub. The brown sugar gives the steak a nice crust in place of the cola.
